3.25.24 - Experimentation, Learning, & Teaching Myself

Experimentation holds a key word hidden within it, which is “experience”. When we experiment with things in our lives, we are trying them out. We are experiencing something, and then reflecting back on that experience to know how we want to move forward. What experiments have I run in my life already that tells me something about myself, what I value, what I want, what works and doesn’t work for me, etc?

For a year and half, I wrote a digital letter every Sunday and sent it out. That time was not only meaningful in keeping a commitment to myself and my readers, but it also developed in me a consistency in reflection, beyond my own mental thinking and personal journaling. It was distilling, in some way, what I was thinking about, observing, experiencing, and learning.

Through experimenting, I’ve also learned over the years that I deeply enjoy learning, and sharing what I’m learning, which is my way of teaching.

It is in this light that I begin these short, daily reflections, to practice distilling the lessons of each day, to teach myself, and to grow. This will be a space for me to get to do something every day that not only supports me on my human journey of growth, but also nourishes me in doing something I find very fulfilling and enjoy, that is, learning and teaching myself through the experimentation of living each day.
